St George Children’s Medical Trust Jinja is a private, non-profit making Ugandan hospital, whose mission is to guarantee affordable medical services, especially to the most needy families/children.

St George Children’s Medical Trust is responding to Jesus’s call to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God by providing the highest standard of surgical care to the world’s most vulnerable children for the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel. We envision a world where every child—regardless of religion, tribe, or financial standing—receives the surgical care they need and deserve.

Our Vision

To be a Hospital of Choice Providing Quality, Sustainable Care in a Humane and Supportive Environment.

Our Mission

To provide Affordable, Quality and Sustainable Healthcare to the Needy and to train Professionals of High Integrity, in Witness of the Church’s Concern for all.

Officially opened in Jinja, Uganda on January 13, 1996 St George Children’s Medical Trust is one of Africa’s leading pediatric hospitals for brain surgery and the treatment of neurological conditions. It provides minimally-invasive endoscopic neurosurgical procedures and attracts surgeons.

The teaching hospital consists of three operating rooms, an 18-bed Intensive Care Unit and 50 ward beds. Hospital staff complete approximately 1,900 surgical procedures annually for children with conditions including hydrocephalus, spina bifida, brain tumors, and other neural tube defects. In addition to world-class clinical service, St St George Children’s Medical Trust ministers to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their communities.

St George Children’s Medical Trust is a specialty teaching hospital that treats the neurosurgical needs of children with an emphasis on conditions like hydrocephalus, neural tube defects, spina bifida, and brain tumours. Located in Jinja, Uganda, it is Africa’s leading hospital for the treatment of these conditions.

Children in Uganda suffering from physical disabilities like hydrocephalus have little hope for a productive future. Left untreated, in addition to pain and suffering, infant hydrocephalus leads to significant brain damage, severe developmental delay, blindness, and ultimately death.

St George Children’s Medical Trust places an equal emphasis on physical and spiritual healing. The hospital has a highly trained team of counsellors who are available to talk and pray with patients and their families. To extend its reach beyond its central location, St George Children’s Medical Trust regularly sends out mobile clinics to remote areas of the country to identify children for treatment and to follow-up with those who have already been treated.

St George Children’s Medical Trust is a place of hope for children with treatable disabilities.
